Terminal 2 — the main domestic terminal

Terminal 2 opened on 16 March 2010 as part of a 15.3-billion-yuan, five-year expansion carried out ahead of the Shanghai Expo. It covers 362,600 square metres, four times the size of Terminal 1, and forms the core of the Hongqiao Comprehensive Transportation Hub, which combines the airport, Hongqiao Railway Station and the Hongqiao bus station. The terminal has four floors: departures on the M2 mezzanine and Level 3, arrivals on Levels 1 and 2. Restaurants, banks, left-luggage, an hourly hotel, lounges, a pharmacy, lost and found and Wi-Fi are all available.

Terminal 1 — international and selected domestic

Terminal 1 is the older building, about 2 km east of Terminal 2. It is used for international, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan services, and for Spring Airlines, Hebei Airlines and XiamenAir. A major renovation began at the end of 2014 and was completed in October 2018, introducing the first self-service check-in in China, where passengers print their boarding pass, check their bags and board without queuing at a staffed counter.
